Intracapsular
Problems
|
| Eminence Click - results from the head
of the condyle popping over the crest of the eminence. |
|
|
| Disk Movement (DM) - Results
from the articular disk not being as stable as it should be. This
may be due to the laxity of one or more of the ligaments or tendons that
function to hold the disk in its ideal position between the head of the
condyle and the glenoid fossa. |
|
|
| Dislocated Disk (DD) - May
be self-reducing, also known as auto-reducing (DDR). A dislocated
disk may be associated with a clicking or popping with movement of the
mandible. It may also be non-reducing in which case it may be quiet
and without vibration and/or limit the range of motion of the
mandible. A non-reducing DD also may not limit the range of
motion of the mandible if the ligaments have been stretched. In this
case the condition is usually associated with a disk that has been
dislocated for a significant period of time. |
|
| Dislocated Disk with
Degenerative Joint Disease (DD/DJD) - This condition could be
self-reducing (DDR/DJD). It may also be non-reducing with
either early or advanced degenerative joint disease.
